The World is Held Together by The Love of a Very Few People

Love has never been a popular movement.

And no one's ever wanted, really, to be free.

The world is held together, really it is held together, by the love and the passion of a very few people.

Otherwise, of course, you can despair.

Walk down the street of any city, any afternoon, and look around you.

What you've got to remember is what you're looking at is also you.

Everyone you're looking at is also you.

You could be that person.

You could be that monster, you could be that cop.

And you have to decide, in yourself, not to be.

Careless People

Finished this on my flight to SNA this morning. I learned a lot and sadly so much of what was shared is not surprising about the reckless and often abhorrent behavior of wealthy & powerful people. I was moved to tears at the story of the birth of SWW’s child. I was disgusted to learn of the reprehensible behavior of several FB execs like Zuck, Sheryl “lean in” Sandberg and many others in FB’s C-suite. It’s a one sided story but sadly as the recent hot mic incident suggests, it’s probably pretty accurate.

Before We Forget Kindness

This book “found me” on a visit to a bookstore in Paris last month. I was about 25k steps into the day and took a welcome break in a comfortable reading room where this book was sitting on an adjacent table. The title piqued my interest so I picked it up and bought it and read it in one sitting on the flight home. It was sometimes challenging to follow and it has a diagram on the first couple pages of all of the characters and their respective relationships and affectations (both helpful and a fair warning). The juice is worth the squeeze here, better, the beans are worth the grind as the reward was a deeply emotional experience.

Little Cloud Sky

I bought a couple of these little guys several years ago for Ryan & Myself. What a delight it was to come up on this display at the Seattle Art Museum.
