I will never support the ideology or rhetoric that Trump spouted during his campaign, and his win says a great deal about the mindset of America. I align with Stephen Hawking’s take that Trump is a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I think this tactic got him the office.
He is my president elect now (I just threw up in my mouth a bit having written that). As much as I disagree with him, I respect the office he holds and the country he serves. It is for those reasons, I want him to do well.
I don’t understand talk of leaving this country because of his win. If you believe in the USA and what we stand for. One president should not make or break your decision to stay here. In fact, the more you oppose the sickness in his ideology, the more we need you here. You must stay and fight for whats right.
If you voted for Trump, I think it’s incredibly important that you reach out to those who feel threatened and/or marginalized by his presidency and show them that as an individual you support them. Not every Trump supporter can possibly be a racist, misogynist, bigoted, troglodyte. Unfortunately, that’s what the media shows us. I refuse to believe 50% of you are this stupid. Although, I will never understand your vote.
Trump needs to publicly denounce the violence, hatred and aggression that is stirring up in his name. He must stand steadfastly against this.
My face and voice matter as a member of the LGBTQ community. I will not be silent, or tolerate any, ANY actions to take away our liberties. In fact, I will work even harder now. This election proves that there’s so much more to do.
Minds are changed through acts of kindness, acceptance and love.
I’m going to fucking miss Obama. I don’t understand why people hate him so much. This is a man whom I truly felt represented the best of our country. I never once doubted that his heart and mind and actions were centered at doing the best for us and even better, his own family. I have not felt that way about any president during my lifetime.
The results of this election can bring us together or tear us apart. The choice is ours.
