I couldn't find the platform, yet I still made my train.

Oh my gaud. What a weekend! RVT will forever be a wonderful memory. Duckie! Thank you L.

London, giddy London

The views from atop the new building at the Tate yesterday were stunning. Finally was able to view the Segram Murals by Rothko. To think those paintings were commissioned for a restaurant at the Four Seasons. Glad he changed his mind and donated them to the Tate. Dinner on the Thames then a bit of homework was in order as the night wound down. Had a bit of FaceTime with my boys and my dogs round 3am. Technology is amazing. The last time I was in London I took cabs everywhere, carried a map and asked strangers how to get around. Now it's all in the palm of my hand.

Come back to Camden

Took the Virgin train from Manchester to Euston this morning and sat across from a grandmother and her twenty something grand daughter who were traveling to London because their daughter/mother was being awarded a high honor in the city of London for service to the military. We chatted about their town, Knutson. They helped me navigate my way through a British breakfast (black pudding — really?) and wonderful small talk as quintessentialy British as you could ever imagine. It was delightful. I also learned about Ms. Gaskell from Knutson who knitted cozys for cow udders because she found them offensive (more research to do here). Train, heave on to Euston and I find myself doing homework at the British Library waiting for my hotel room at the Wesley to be ready. Next off to Camden Town to see the market which became to overwhelming and crowded. So, off now to find and enjoy my new favorite beer. Introduced to me at the Old Wellington (across the street from Harvey Nich's) in Manchester. The Camden Brewery is just .2 miles from where I stood and currently, where I sit writing this post. I'll drink tea with the taste of the Thames tomorrow.

Salford, Stretford, & I

Visiting the hometown of the most important singer and poet of my life this week. First stop was the Salford Lads Club where perhaps the most iconic photo of The Smiths was taken, then on to Morrissey's house from 1969 to 1989. I spent the remainder of a morning atop the iron bridge, under a slate grey Mancunian sky.
