So happy to honor this great man, Barack Obama on President's Day. Intelligence, compassion, and a strong moral compass. The best president I've ever known. -GVF
Trump News Conference Today
I'm watching Trump's news conference as I type. I wish he was a better speaker. If he could just make a point without repeating himself over and over or insulting others, he'd be so much more effective. It's ridiculous that he wants the media to ask him "nice" questions. His job is hard because he has to answer the tough questions. The choice of the response is his, but controlling the media is not. I strongly oppose Trump and find most of his rhetoric repulsive. This press conference was one of the best windows into his mind so far.
Together We Are Strong
Have you ever heard of divide and conquer? I feel like that's whats going on in our country right now. Divided we are weak, together we are strong. Democrat, Republican, Left or Right we share more in common than we realize. There is room for disagreement in this country if we remember at the end of the day, our friends, our families and our loved ones are the reason we strive for a better tomorrow.
There is no room for oppression and I worry that this climate of divisive rhetoric will take our eye of the big picture. Our ideals of freedom and liberty, diversity and inclusion are so important to support. Let's not forget that, and now more than ever, we must pay very close attention to what's happening behind the curtain when the smoke and mirrors are in play.
20 January 2017 - No Day But Today
This day is a very challenging day for many of my friends and family. I was deeply saddened to hear that on his first day holding office Trump removed the LGBTQ page from the Whitehouse website. It is an unfortunate sign of what's to come and a strong reminder of why we must continue to stay strong. This song I've attached below sung by Idina Menzel helps me feel better in times of grief and I hope you find it as beautiful as I do. The part where the audience sings along with her gives me chills every time I hear it.
